Bismarck Phy-Ed teacher Mike Porter is getting certified in martial arts in Korea next week But before he leaves for his triphe s making sure his elementary school classes have also learned something about martial arts Porter is a member of Ehrmantraut s Academy in Bismarck and is getting his first-degree black belt in hapkido a form of self-defense He is also getting certified in Korean Sports Dance something he s been teaching his phy-ed students at Solheim Elementary Mike Porter Bismarck Phy-Ed Teacher With this dance not only does it teach you coordination flexibility your timing your rhythm it s also an excellent warm-up for all the body parts involved with whatever activity you are going to do Porter says he is excited for his trip to Korea and plans to take a lot of pictures and video to show his students Kris Ehrmantraut who has earned her masters in three different martial arts says there are other positive components to the dance Kris Ehrmantraut Martial Arts Master As far as the camaraderie learning cadence cooperation and sometimes it looks easier than it actually is so we are really pleased with what he has done with the gym classes here at Solheim Porter and the Ehrmantraut s will leave for Seoul South Korea on Monday for a ten-day trip to earn certifications and titles
